Footy’s

During lockdown I was sent a whole bundle of Footy’s treats to try out.  I was so excited, as the lockdown diet has been real and I know that I have been piling on the weight.  Footy’s is sugar-free, banting-friendly and has all natural ingredients.  How good could it really taste right?

I immediately opened one of the sachets and added it to my water bottle filled with water.  YUM!  Guys, these flavours are unreal and don’t leave an artificial aftertaste in your mouth.  I was hooked.  I dilute it slightly more than their recommended dosage, but I have always added more water to my cooldrinks.

And then I decided to give the Grape flavour a go with some sparkling water, and it tasted just like Fanta Grape, but not as sweet.  I asked husband to try some with his eyes closed and he was super impressed as he had no idea I had made this at home.

I was also excited to discover their free recipe book available online and we have tried the chocolate and strawberry cheesecake, as well as the frozen yoghurt.  The different flavours are Grape, Naartjie, Strawberry, Lemon & Lime, Passion Fruit, and Raspberry – my favourites are the Passion Fruit and Grape, with husband obsessed over the Strawberry one.

Guys, these fantastic products are available in ready-mixed juices, as well as a variety pack (individual sachets of the different flavours allow you to discover your favourite without having to buy a large container), as well as 170g and 450g jars.

I have shared mine with my co-workers, as well as with one of the guys who works on our property and is a diabetic – he said he absolutely loves it and has already gone to buy his second jar!

These are available from their online store, Dischem, Food Lover’s Market, Spar, Fresh Stop, Pick n Pay, as well as a few independent distributors.  They are a healthier alternative to so many cooldrinks currently available, and I love the versatility of them – with the colder weather I have been adding it to boiling water and enjoying being warmed from the inside too.  You could even add it to milk for a fruity milkshake, or some plan yoghurt to flavour it as you please.

The Footy’s Mission and Vision
Our father founded Footy’s in his search for a healthier and wealthier future for our family and a better footprint for humanity.

We believe that true change is a daily decision where your actions will determine the legacy of your footprint. Making healthier lifestyle choices, by following healthier eating habits with proper nutrition. At the same time, we feel that we can still be able to enjoy the sweet part of life, especially for our kids. Bearing in mind that children live by example, the range was also developed to include mom and dad, which makes it ideal for both young and old.

The Footy’s Future Food range products are the brainchild of Dr. Tersia Muller, founder of Wellness Made Simple For Kids. Combining forces with her husband, Christiaan Muller and sister-in-law, Annchen Bester (Chef and new product development consultant), the Footy’s Future Food range saw the light in October 2015.

All our products are made with natural colourants, no artificial sweeteners, no sugar and no preservatives, which makes it diabetic friendly. Our powder cooldrink are ADHD friendly, tooth-friendly and high in vitamin C and contains no artificial ingredients. This makes our products ideal for slimmers, the health conscious and individuals prone to allergies.

Hospital Spoils

I have been admitted into hospital over 100 times – easily.  The first year of my diagnosis saw me spending more time in hospital than I did at home.  I have had over 20 operations (I can’t remember the exact number & to be honest can’t even remember all the operations – I try to block these from my memory once they are over).  This means a LOT of time spent lying in a hospital bed.  It means sore muscles, hairy legs, uncomfortable beds, greasy hair, being run-down & generally just feeling rotten.

It means long days of doing nothing, & not wanting to actually watch one more TV show that is on repeat.  I often beg my husband to just rub my feet as I crave human touch & my feet ACHE from not being used.  So when I saw a new business here in Joburg North being advertised, I was super excited.

Hospital Spoils is a relatively new business that will come to you in hospital, or whilst you are recovering at home.  In fact, they even came to my office in Broadacres to pamper me there.

They reached out to me to offer me a treatment of my choice (of course I went for a shoulder, neck & head massage!) & I knew that my fellow rare warrior friends & hospital frequent-ers would be super excited about this idea.

I was so impressed with the level of hygiene & care that was taken throughout my treatment.  And you can tell that the therapists really care about what they are doing – it is so much more than a job for them.  They really want to help you feel better about yourself, & take away some of the stress that you have been experiencing.

My favourite part was that I was constantly kept informed via Whatsapp on what was on offer, who my therapist would be, confirmation of my appointment, an invoice, & then I was sent a message following my treatment to rate how it went & if they can improve in any way.  Customer service is of the utmost importance – especially in this area & when you are dealing with people who are either sick or recovering from some downtime.

I can absolutely say, without any hesitation, that I recommend Hospital Spoils for anyone & everyone.  And I know who my first call during my next hospital admission will be to!

Tissue Oil

When I was contacted by Rubybox to participate in their survey for Justine Tissue Oil, I was very interested!  Rubybox is a great service offered right here in South Africa, where you subscribe & they send you surveys to complete that they feel may relate to you & your needs.  You then complete them honestly, & if you fit their brief then they send you samples of a specific product for yourself & your friends to trial.  You usually have to complete surveys throughout your time of using them, & sometimes even send through progress shots to prove that these products are making a difference.rubybox.png

Just please don’t sign up to participate & then keep all the products for yourself – that is not cool & completely defeats the object of this campaign!

Available in 60ml for R135, and 200ml for R380.
Justine’s Tissue Oil Original is formulated with botanically-derived oils like Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E, which help the oil to penetrate the skin quickly and deeply to ensure faster, never seen before results.

Tissue Oil is rich in antioxidants that contain anti-ageing properties to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles from appearing over time.

In just 2 weeks, 4 out of 5 women* who used Justine’s Tissue Oil saw an improvement in the look of: Scars and stretch marks*, Sun damage**, Skin’s elasticity** and Skin’s firmness**

*Based on a consumer study where 4 out of 5 women saw an improvement in the appearance of scars and stretch marks after 2 weeks.

When I signed up for this campaign, I had relatively new scars.  From past experience I knew that my skin keloids & marks easily, & my older scars are still very visible despite some of them being over 20 years old.  I am a scab picker (terrible habit I know!) & have bad acne scarring on my face from my teenage years.  I had 3 operations at the beginning of 2018 & really wanted to see if tissue oil was worth all the hype.  Would it really make my scarring less visible, as well as my skin softer?

This slideshow shows the progression from my original scars, to 2 weeks later, & finally after 4 weeks.  I applied the oil every morning & evening during this period & I really feel that this is key – you need to maintain the application in order to get the best benefits & see the best results.

The scars I used them on here were from an open lung biopsy, & where my chemo port was inserted.  You can see in the images that they are still quite new & red so they could really do with some help!  You cannot apply oil to 10 year old scars/marks & expect to see a huge difference – you need to put together your plan of action quite early on & sort them out when they happen.  In fact, I think I will always ensure that I have some tissue oil in my cupboard when I go for any type of surgery.

Having used this religiously for the full four weeks, this was my honest review:  “Being chronically ill, & having had 4 operations this year alone means that my poor body is COVERED in scars. My skin has also taken a huge beating from this JHB winter & it was looking scaley & gross. Getting this oil was literally the best thing I have ever done. My skin has softened & my scars are not as red & angry. I no longer feel like my skin is pulling in those areas, but is moisturised & fading a little every day. The fragrance is so pleasant & the oil soaks in quickly so it does not stain any clothing. I think every woman should have this as a staple in their cupboard!

I would really encourage everyone to sign up for Rubybox’s great service, answer the surveys honestly, & spread the word amongst your friends.  You can also like them on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter to stay up to date.

Let me know if you have answered any surveys & been sent products to trial.  What are your thoughts?
